Amazon kindle is on the move. It has become one of the biggest retailers of digital products with its e-books and physical books. It is constantly adding new ways that publisher can sell their products through digital, audio, printed, and video format. Content ranges from novels to all kinds of non-fiction material. All categories of content have many consumers.
Recently there has been a high level of interest by writers in comic books of the past, especially children’s comics. The comic before the 60’s is now a target of many product creators. These comics are those which are simple to more serious. From these comic books many well-known movie characters have been created. Derivative stories have also been created by Disney that have become classics. Readers were kids to adults at a time when radio has a prime entertainment and TV was just starting to take hold. This comic book period was when they were in their prime.
At present old comics are difficult to format on Kindle, since placing the whole comic page on the kindle make it difficult to read the character’s conversations. But this is changing as writer and editors are becoming more efficient and creative in presenting their images in kindle comics. If kindle wants to have old time comics on their system where they become readable, changes need to be made to their readers.
New ways of presenting less than a full comic page are starting to appear on kindle. This is great news, providing that the consumer accepts the new format. This format is such that one to three frames of comic pages are put on a kindle page. This makes the comic conversations readable. The only issue with this is that the reader has to scan more times from page to page to read the story.
Time will tell if this new comics for kindle format becomes acceptable to consumers. And if it does, this opens the door to a tremendous amount of comic content that has not yet been available to the public other than in specialty comic book stores.
